A Fond Farewell to Fr. Tim
Today, Fr. Timothy G. Canaan celebrated his last Seton Catholic Mass, commemorating the feast day of our patroness, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. During his time as pastor of St. John’s Church, he has been a strong advo- cate of all Catholic schools in the Plattsburgh area. In the fall, he announced that he would be stepping down due to health reasons. Student Council President Thomas Murray presented Father with a scrapbook of mes- sages from the Seton community and Mrs. Toner’s fifth graders performed a song they wrote especially for him. In return, Fr. Tim gifted Seton a pewter chalice that was given to him years ago and the chasuble — a priest’s outermost vestment — that Mrs. Toner made for him 21 years ago. We will miss Fr. Tim and he will always have a special place in our hearts and prayers at Seton Catholic. We wish him God’s blessing as he goes on to this next step in his journey and thank him for all he has done for our community.
